One person has been arrested following a protest at the Bayside COVID vaccination centre, where a Cowbridge teen was intimidated.

Police say around 30 people tried to prevent patients from entering the Bayside Centre on Saturday.

Politicians condemned those who reportedly intimidated and harassed visitors.

The mother of a 15-year-old girl from Cowbridge told BBC Wales she was accused of using her daughter as a ''lab rat'' after getting a COVID jab.

First Minister Mark Drakeford said "people are entitled to protest but not in a way that intimidates others".

"They are right to say that people have a right to protest and so on, but they need to think about it in terms of the impact that will have on the individual who is being, in this case, directly approached by a group of people," he continued.

In a statement, South Wales Police described the protest as ''in the main peaceful''.

"At around 10.50am on Saturday a report was received of some 30 protesters preventing patients from entering the vaccination centre on Olympian Drive, Grangetown," said a SWP spokesperson.

"UK policing recognises and upholds the right to democratic protest and facilitate peaceful protest while minimising disruption to the wider public.

"Officers attended and the protest was in the main peaceful however towards the end of the day one protester was arrested.

"The protesters eventually dispersed without any further incident."
