Cowbridge History Society is releasing a book in partnership with Llantwit Major History Society titled "A Journey down the Thaw Valley".

The book offers a comprehensive guide to the area from the start of the River Thaw at a spring north of Cowbridge, covering history, geography, geology and wildlife.

Six authors have collaborated on the project, who walked the length of the valley as they conducted research over the past few years.

Cowbridge History Society Secretary, Dick Tonkin, revealed the book was due to be printed soon, and is due for release in the next fortnight.

"Cowbridge History Society is a charity, and one of our goals is to broaden the public awareness of the history of the area," said Dick.

"We do that through regular talks through the year, and publications. There's been about 12 over the years.

"The book is a very comprehensive guide, with lots of pictures of birds, animals and buildings, and hand-drawn maps."

The societies are printing 200 copies of "A Journey down the Thaw Valley, 95 of which will go to their members, so the rest will be available to purchase for £10, plus postage and packaging.
