Major road resurfacing is due to take place in Cowbridge and other areas of the Vale of Glamorgan in the coming weeks.

An area spanning 22,000m² is due to be resurfaced to improve the road texture and longevity of the tarmac.

Works will be taking place in a several locations across the Vale, including:

  • Barry - Quarella Street
  • Bonvilston - Village Farm
  • Corntown - The Meadows & Parklands
  • Cowbridge - Llanquian Close & St Athan Road, St Mary Church
  • Dinas Powys - The Westra, Castle Drive & Chestnut Close
  • Penarth - Cedar Way & Myrtle Close
  • Rhoose - Milburn Close
  • Ogmore-By-Sea - Craig Yr Eos Avenue & Craig Yr Eos Road
  • St Athan - St Johns View
  • Sully - Arlington Road & Conybeare Road
  • Wenvoe - Gwenfo Drive, Springfield Close, Old Market, Greave Close & Walston Road

In a post on its website, The Vale Council said: "Generally, work will be carried out between 7.00am and 6.00pm, 7 days a week.

"The material will remain wet for anything from 15 - 30 minutes after it has been laid, depending on the temperature and humidity. When first laid the material is brown in colour. As it sets it turns to a dark grey/black. The action of trafficking improves the newly laid surface and controls the speed of setting.

"An excess of loose aggregate may build up on the road for a period of time after completion, which is normal for this process and will be removed by a suction sweeper when necessary. Please drive slowly and observe the temporary signs that will have been left in place."

Works will commence on 28 September. You can find out more information about the specific streets which will be resurfaced within the various affected areas on the Vale Council's website, here.
