Nub News wanted to ask Rhys Evans, JCP Solicitor's new Director of Agriculture and Property Litigation, about what makes the firm stand out from its competition, the importance of speaking Welsh and what he loves most about Cowbridge.

1. What is it that excites you most about your role at the Cowbridge law firm?

Cowbridge is at the heart of the agricultural community in South Wales, and servicing the area is an important focus for us at JCP Solicitors.

Since the closure of the 200-year-old livestock market in Cowbridge, I am keen to help to continue the discussion with farming stakeholders and other interested parties around how we can further strengthen farming communities in the area.

It is exciting to join JCP in Cowbridge at a time when legal agricultural expertise within the team and across our South and West Wales offices can help our clients overcome the challenges facing the agricultural sector.

2. Why does JCP Solicitors stand out from competitor law firms that specialise in Property Litigation?

The professionals in JCP's Property Litigation team are experts at settling conflicts for clients across a spectrum of property litigation matters. The team members are known for their pragmatic approach to problem-solving and using alternative dispute resolution methods or, where necessary, court action to achieve the desired outcome.

We have a unique blend of expertise and experience in the team so we can handle complicated disputes, but we take a personal, small firm approach and our rates are competitive.

Having a Cowbridge office, where people can access quality legal services in the heart of their community without having to travel to the main cities, helps us stand out from competitors.

3. What is it that you love most about Cowbridge?

What strikes me when walking down the high street is its rich history, unique shops, a fantastic farmer's market selling high quality local produce and the knowledge that just a short distance to the East lies the traditional site of Owain Glyn Dr's victory over Henry IV in 1405!

I also enjoy a trip to the Physic Garden with its glorious array of medicinal plants and herbs and a good meal at the various restaurants.

4. How important is it to speak fluent Welsh in your role?

It has always been central to JCP's ethos that we are an integral part of the communities we serve, and being able to communicate with our clients in the language they are most comfortable with is important. I speak Welsh to clients daily, so it is central to my role.

5. Where do you hope to make the most difference in your role?

My role as a Solicitor in the property litigation sector involves more than simply advising on disputes. If we are involved early enough, we can often avoid problems before they arise, and a large part of my role involves just that, to solve problems without resorting to costly litigation.

I hope to make the most difference to clients by offering sound advice in the hope of steering clients away from litigation. However, if needs must, we have a strong team at the ready to guide clients through what can often be difficult situations, whilst always bearing in mind the cost effectiveness of the steps we take.
