Cowbridge Coronation Events Group supported by Cowbridge with Llanblethian Town Council are planning a weekend of events to mark and celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

The weekend will kick-off on the evening of Friday, 5 May with the Mayor's Charity Coronation Dinner Dance at the Bear Hotel in aid of the Mayor's charities: Barnardos and Atal y Fro.

To reserve a place contact the Mayor ([email protected]) or the Town Hall office ([email protected] or 01446 773385).

The Coronation will be at 11am on Saturday, 6 May. On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May the Cowbridge & District Museum will be holding a Kings and Queens Exhibition in the Town Hall.

Starting at 11.30am on Sunday, 7 May there will be a Coronation Parade from the Fire Station, along the High Street to the Leisure Centre led by the Aberthin Tractor Boys.

The intention is that they will be towing some decorated floats and will be followed by a procession of colourfully costumed children and adults.

Cowbridge High Street will be decorated for the occasion.

Immediately following the Parade on Sunday there will be a Community lunch/party with entertainment on the Bear Field from 12 noon.

The intention is that families will bring picnics but there will be some stalls selling food and drink.

There will be a stage with a programme of entertainment by local performers. There will also be a Maypole and some small fairground rides.

The Leisure Centre will be open with some soft play activities. Bank Holiday Monday 8th May is the day for Volunteer activities.

Local Litter Picks are planned and encouraged, for which volunteers are required, and voluntary groups are encouraged to organise their own activities.

Mayor Cllr Andrew says: "For this weekend of events to be successful we need as many people as possible, adults and children, to get involved.

"If you would like to know how you can play your part please contact the Cowbridge Town Hall office, myyself or any town councillor or just turn up to our next planning meeting which will be at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, 29 March in the Council Chamber of Cowbridge Town Hall.

"All are welcome. If you are planning your own event in Cowbridge, Llanblethian and Aberthin, such as a street party, that's great. It would be good if you could let us know so that we have an overview of all the activities in the area."
