Cowbridge Choral Society will be making comeback after two years to host a summer concert at Cowbridge Town Hall on June 18.

The concert will be the first from the society after the COVID-19 pandemic and guests can enjoy a mixed programme of music at the summer concert, including songs from musicals, traditional Welsh choral songs, and artists such as Simon & Garfunkel.

Robert Oldham, 51, chairman of the Cowbridge Choral Society, told Cowbridge Nub News: "We normally do three concerts a year: one at Easter, a Christmas concert and a summer concert.

"The Christmas and Easter concerts are always in Cowbridge, but the summer ones can vary in locations. We've been to a few of the nearby villages, but because this is the first one back after the pandemic, we decided it should be in the Town Hall."

The society is a mixed choir in Cowbridge which started in 1983 and was the first mixed choir to be formed in the town. Currently, the choir is made up of 28 members. During the lockdown, members met up once a week via Zoom to continue their choir sessions and stay in contact.

Mr Oldham is always encouraging new members to join. "We rehearse on a Thursday evening at 19:30 in the hall next to the United Free Church and any new members are welcome to join us," he said.

"We especially need more men, but any new members can certainly join us."

The concert will start at 19:30. Tickets are £8 each, with students and under 18s allowed to attend for free.

They are available at W G Davies Newsagents on Cowbridge High Street or you can call the society's secretary on 01446 792175.
