Cowbridge Town Council have revealed plans for Remembrance Sunday, following Monday's announcement meaning the day falls within a period of tighter lockdown restrictions.

A socially-distanced event will take place outside the town hall on Sunday 8 November, attended by a small number of invited guests.

The council will also send a letter to groups who have purchased a wreath to lay at the Town Hall War Memorial, offering a time slot to lay the wreath in person before 11am, or for it to be placed for them.

Cowbridge Mayor Councillor Siân Vaughan said in accordance with national guidelines the council is discouraging people from assembling to commemorate the day.

"There is a national campaign to stand on our doorsteps at 11am on Remembrance Sunday, to take part in the minute silence," she said.

To mitigate the impact of Coronavirus on their Poppy Appeal, The Royal British Legion is offering to send people 20 poppies, free of charge, to distribute safely within local communities.
