Cowbridge (Ancient Borough) with Llanblethian Town Council will donate a grant of £200 to the Valeways walking charity.

The grant will help with the costs of organising the Vale of Glamorgan Walking Festival which is scheduled for September 6 – 11, 2022.

Valeways was launched in 1996 and promotes walking trails in the Vale of Glamorgan countryside, as well as their accessibility.

The charity also organises dementia-friendly and bilingual walks for Welsh speakers.

There are several different walking programmes for everyone to take part in, either in a group or individually, including Progression Walks (approximately 90 minutes along gentle terrain with limited steps); Secondary Walks (up to two and a half hours with some steps and steep inclines); and Extended Walks (between three to four hours across many inclines and steps).

Previously, the council supported Valeways by hosting the launch of a Cowbridge Day of walks as part of the Walking Festival in 2017 and again in 2021.

The mayor of Cowbridge, Siân Vaughan, also attended the main launch of the Walking Festival in Barry in 2018, and the launch in Llantwit Major in Sept 2021 was attended by the deputy mayor, John Andrew.
