Vale residents are being asked for their views on plans for a new solar farm in the county.

Cenin, the company behind the proposal, is setting up a digital public exhibition as part of its consultation on the solar farm before officially submitting its application to the Welsh Government.

The solar farm, Parc Dyffryn, which has been proposed for land between St Nicholas and Downs to the south west of Cardiff, would produce 682.5Gw (watts) of electricity every year if approved, the equivalent total power required for over 20,000 homes each year.

Martyn Popham, director of Cenin, said: "Long-term efficient and clean energy use and supply is important locally and to the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Welsh Government's plans for net-zero carbon emissions.

"All of our energy projects are carefully designed by our team to minimise the impact on the land.

"We carefully consider the existing flora and fauna on the site and allow it to thrive further."

Cenin previously reached out to members of the public for their views on the plans earlier this year but is now proposing to further its consultation.

As it would be considered a project of national significance, the application for Parc Dyffryn will be considered by the Welsh Government.

The consultation on the draft application closes on August 1.
