More volunteers are needed to help oversee an adventure race day on April 30 at Penllyn Estate.

The Mini Burn Adventure Race is a challenge where teams are put to the test by completing a 2.8km run, an 8km mountain bike, a 1km kayak and a 1km navigation phase.

Teams can be made up of a family of two to four people with at least one adult and one junior under ten years old; a family team with one junior over ten years old and one adult; and a team of two to four people over 18 years old.

There are a few spaces left for people who want to take part, but volunteers are also needed to help oversee the day.

Maria Leijerstam Edy, the organiser of Mini Burn Adventure Race, told Cowbridge Nub News: "We have a variety of roles, some to help with the kayaks by sorting buoyancy Aids and paddles, some to direct competitors, some to be at certain points on the course to ensure competitors go the right way and some to help at the finish to hand out medals and again direct competitors."

One person per team will be given a timer to wear around their wrists during the course to record times for each phase and present at various checkpoints.

Kayaks will be provided but all participants must bring their own bikes.

Start times are from 10:00 and a trophy presentation will start at approximately 15:00.

Everyone who finishes the course will also be presented with a medal.

If you are interested in volunteering, contact Maria directly on 07862 227187 or email [email protected].
