A former Cowbridge Comprehensive School pupil has been appointed the new CEO of the Welsh Sports Association (WSA).
Andrew Howard, a former Cowbridge Comprehensive School pupil, joins the WSA from the Football Association of Wales (FAW) where he has worked for nearly two decades.
At the FAW, Mr Howard was responsible for the management of domestic football in Wales and implemented some major changes over this time, including a £5 million 3G project and a review of the National League structures which contributed to the FAW's vision for stronger and more sustainable clubs.
Mr Howard has also volunteered on the Executive Committee of the Welsh Pétanque Association (WPA).
He said: "I am thrilled to be joining the WSA and I really look forward to working closely with the board, the staff, and our members to deliver our new strategy.
"I look forward to using my positive experiences from within the sector, for the sector; and empowering our members to be stronger, more sustainable, more successful and fit for the future."
Lynn Pamment, chair of the WSA, added: "We are delighted about the appointment and wholeheartedly welcome Andrew to the WSA team.
"Transitioning away from a hard-hitting couple of years governed by COVID-19 restrictions represents a crucial time for the sport and leisure industry.
"With the experience that Andrew boasts in one of Wales's largest national governing bodies as well as one of the smallest, we are confident that he can lead the WSA and its strategy to support the sector as a collective into post-COVID times."
Mr Howard will take over as CEO in August 2022.
