VALE of Glamorgan MP Alun Cairns has launched two local initiatives.

He has just opened his 2022 Christmas Card competition for children aged three to 11 in the Vale.

The theme is a nativity scene and there are awards for every entrant.

The winning design will be printed professionally and sent across the Vale and Westminster, and to the Prime Minister!

You can submit your entries by posting them to Mr Cairns' Vale office: Unit 6, BSC2, Hood Road; Barry, Vale of Glamorgan.CF62 5QL.

The deadline for receipt is Thursday 17 November.

Mr Cairns is also seeking help in nominating local licensees and teams who go the extra mile to support their communities.

He will be making nominations to the Community Pub Hero Awards and would like to hear from constituents who to put forward.

He says: "I want to hear from you as to who I should nominate! Maybe they ran community events, offered support during the pandemic, raised money for charity, or providesupport for vulnerable groups.

"Please email me with your suggestions before 14 November at [email protected]

"Judges will review entries and publish a shortlist.

"All finalists will be invited to participate in an awards ceremony which will be held in Parliament in the new year!"

Mr Cairns also recently hosted a part of Vale residents who visited Westminster.

He says: "I had the pleasure of inviting and welcoming Vale residents to the Houses of Parliament for a talk and tour. The trip was very successful and I will be organising more for the months ahead.

"If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in attending please email me.
