Some of the matters discussed at the Town Council meeting on January 18, 2022 were graffiti, CCTV, disabled parking bay and Cowbridge in Bloom.

Unfortunately there was a spate of graffiti around Cowbridge at the beginning of January 2022. This was reported to the police by both the Town Council and members of the public.

Cllr Andrew Pritchard spent much of one day going around the town removing the graffiti. The police gave a comprehensive report at the meeting explaining that they have identified a number of culprits and are taking the appropriate action. Hopefully this will prevent a reoccurrence.

The Police have indicated that they would like there to be more CCTV in Cowbridge. They believe it would deter crime and allow offenders to be identified. Councillors debated the pros and cons and the numerous factors to be considered. A small working party was set up to investigate further and report back to the council.

A suggestion has been made to move the disabled parking bays outside Tesco further down the road. Discussions are continuing with the Vale of Glamorgan council.

Cowbridge in Bloom have for many years been responsible for providing and maintaining the floral displays on the High Street, Eastgate and Westgate lamp posts in Cowbridge and also the containers alongside the river.

Unfortunately, for various reasons, the task of organising the local display is becoming too onerous for a group of volunteers and they have asked that Cowbridge with Llanblethian Town Council take over responsibility, as is the case in many other towns.

Councillors recognised the good work done by Cowbridge in Bloom volunteers and agreed that the floral displays are an important feature in the Town which must not be lost. Therefore, they agreed to take over the assets of Cowbridge in Bloom and look after the displays in the future.

The next full council meeting will be on Tuesday, February 15 at 19:00. Members of the public can attend either in the Council Chamber or online. Contact the Town Clerk for details.
