The Vale of Glamorgan Council has secured more than £1.8 million of Welsh Government funding for transport schemes in the County.
Funding will go towards exploring the possibility of improving strategic transport from junction 34 of the M4 to the A48.
Road safety projects will also receive a portion of the money, one being the Floodgate roundabout to Nash Corner in Llandow, which will reduce speeds and improve safety.
Grants have been secured for safety projects in Barry and Dinas Powys as well.
Some money will be used for exploring sustainable transport opportunities between Penarth and the Cardiff Barrage.
The funding means the programme of bus stop improvement throughout the Vale can continue, while money has been made available for work on selected active travel routes, which help promote walking and cycling.
In addition, there will be funding for child pedestrian training for five to seven-year-olds in the Vale, helping them stay safe around roads, and cycle training for year six pupils.
Pre-driver education courses will be on offer to those aged 16 and over, providing the opportunity to develop safe behaviours before getting behind the wheel.
And post-test motorbike training adds another safety level for those who have recently passed their test as does the Pass Plus Cymru scheme for new drivers.
Cllr Peter King, Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services and Transport, said: "I'm delighted we have secured this funding, which will go towards a large number of exciting, worthwhile schemes.
"It will enable us to improve the Vale's existing transport infrastructure, explore the possibility of making improvements to the road network and offer road users the opportunity to partake in specialist training.
"As a result, the Vale should have a safer, better connected and more reliable transport system."
