The line-up for the Cowbridge Festival of Flowers' celebrations on Saturday, August 27 has been released with the day promising to be 'blooming' lovely.

Street acts, Petal People and the Flowerpot People will entertain locals and visitors to the town, all in a bid to help the high street 'bloom' back to life following the COVID-19 pandemic

A string quartet will play in Cowbridge's beautiful Physic Garden, where Rhian Rees of Wild & Fabulous Flowers will also be giving flower demonstrations.

A Flower Fairy Trail for children is also set up in the Old Hall Gardens, where a 'real-life' Flower Fairy will entertain little ones with storytelling.

Artist Nina Lazarou will also be hosting a wire workshop in the Town Hall, where for £5 people of all ages can book to learn how to make a wire flower.

Floral installations using locally grown flowers will adorn the high street thanks to Rhian Rees of Wild & Fabulous Flowers and local growers including Pheasant Acre and Elwyn's Produce, while floral window displays have been created by high street traders and window artist Claire Williams of Huxley and Mabel.

During the celebrations, traders will be showcasing their floral offerings, including Bont Gin, which has distilled a limited-edition floral gin.

Nia Hollins, principal tourism and marketing officer at the Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: "We're really looking forward to the culmination event of the Festival of Flowers. With street acts, floral demonstrations, workshops, storytelling and more, there's something to entertain all audiences.

"The Festival aims to encourage residents and visitors to visit and explore what Cowbridge has to offer and to give our local traders a boost after a tough couple of years, so we really hope everyone will support this fantastic event."

The event, which is funded by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, will take place on Saturday, August 27.
