Top class care in the comfort of your home with Home Instead
Providing eight years of exceptional home-based care in Cowbridge is Home Instead.
The company, covering Cowbridge and Pontyclun, has been supporting members of the community with a range of bespoke home care services since it was founded by Jonathan Davies with his wife, Stephanie, in 2014.
Home Instead and Nub News are now delighted to announce the award-winning local care provider is our latest sponsor, enabling our community website to continue to provide Cowbridge with hyper-local news, features and sport.
Most of us fear what we might lose as we age: contained within muscles and memories is our independence.
It is with an understanding of this underpinning it that Home Instead provides dependable, compassionate home care services to solve the practical as well as more intangible challenges posed by the ageing process, in effect preserving the independent lives of their clients.
Stephanie and Jonathan were compelled to open Home Instead in Cowbridge after their own experience with Jonathan's father, who needed support but wanted to stay in his own home.
The husband and wife remember how daunting their search for a compassionate, friendly and professional care provider was, and the sense of relief they felt on finding Home Instead.
"Whenever someone rings us at Home Instead Cowbridge, we endeavour to place ourselves in their shoes and be as helpful as we can," said Stephanie.
This empathy is echoed in the warmth of Home Instead's CAREGivers, who give their clients such comforting and practical support that reviews are universally praising.
One relative said: "Their carers and management staff are totally committed to providing excellent care and are always eager and willing to go the extra mile whenever necessary. Their communication process is brilliant, and their management system is faultless.
"I trust them 100% with the care of my 91-year-old father who has dementia and lives alone in a large house."
"The carers treated my father as a real individual rather than as a task to be completed and did all they could to improve his quality of life as well as keeping him safe," said another.
Services Home Instead offers range from companionship, personal care, meal preparation and home cooked food, through to home from hospital support and live-in care – but critical to whichever service a client seeks is Home Instead's continuity promise.
"It felt like we were asking for the impossible," said Jonathan of trying to find a company that could assure that his father saw the same carer each week at the time booked.
"The most common questions people ask is will their loved one see the same CAREGivers and whether we commit to a booked time rather than a time window," said Stephanie.
"We are always happy to confirm our continuity policy and how each client is matched to a team of regular CAREGivers to deliver their service at the agreed time."
Speaking with Home Instead's senior staff, this commitment to continuity – that the same carer will be by a loved one's side week-in, week-out – puts Home Instead in its own league of care providers.
"Staff have enough time – minimum 1 hour – to help individuals meet their desired outcomes without being rushed, whilst still having the opportunity to promote independence," said Jen Wright, Home Instead's Registered Care Manager who has over 20 years' experience in the care industry.
"The continuity that Home Instead offers allows individuals to build up the great working relationships that we see.
"Clients have real faith and trust in their CAREGiver to know how they like their daily tasks carried out, and that all tasks are completed to a high standard."
Consistency in relationships is one aspect of how care is made caring. The other is the character and enthusiasm of the carers.
Speaking to Stephanie, the excellence of Home Instead's CAREGivers stems from a meticulous recruitment process which includes its "Mum" test.
"All CAREGivers must pass our "Mum" test," said Stephanie.
"If we wouldn't happily allow them to care for our own Mum's, then we don't feel we should ask them to care for someone else's.
"CAREGivers should be friendly, respectful and want to make a positive difference in somebody's lives."
Care Manager Jen explains her role is precisely this. She said: "Seeing the positive impact we make on vulnerable adults' lives is the most rewarding aspect of the role".
Home Instead relatives only confirm such an ethos.
"Home Instead have been a lifeline not just for my mother but to myself and family. From the very first phone call, they have been professional and understanding of our circumstances and have been available to contact 24 hours a day.
"The service provided by the carers has been to the utmost standard and they cannot be praised enough. Staying at home has been her priority and without the support of Home Instead, we would not be able to make this happen."
