Vale Value For Money Questioned

With 4.9% increase in Council tax likely to be proposed for Vale Residents and the worst recession in three centuries on our doorstep, the question of value for money has been raised by cyclists, walkers, environmental champions and others who feel the Vale of Glamorgan Council and Welsh Government should not be spending public money on a new road from M4 to A48.

A large number of objections to the road, captured by Vale Communities For Future Generations, have cited serious and widespread concern that in the midst of a pandemic and recession, the increasing millions of pounds that it would cost to build the road would be better spent elsewhere.

One Pendoylan resident said: " The cost of this road is huge.

"We will be paying to destroy ancient woodland, destroy rare habitats and increase flooding and traffic congestion!

It's madness in a Climate Emergency, pandemic and recession to even think about it."

Council Tax in the Vale rose by 4.9% last year amid much opposition.
