Walkers are Welcome's Cowbridge branch are encouraging new members from the town and surrounding areas.

Walkers are Welcome is a nationwide initiative launched in 2007 to be 'welcoming to walkers'.

It enables the development of over a hundred accredited Towns and Villages members to assist with their communities' economic, physical, health and mental well-being through walking.

Its aim is to help towns and villages to be attractive for walkers with excellent information on local walks, ensure that footpaths and facilities for walkers are maintained, improved and well signposted, contribute to local tourism plans and regeneration strategies, promote the health benefits of walking and increase participation and encourage the use of public transport.

A spokesperson for the Cowbridge branch says:

"Cowbridge has been an accredited 'Walkers are Welcome' Town since April 2022, formed and applied for during lockdowns.
"The initiative is to promote the town, Llanblethian, Aberthin and surrounding area as a hub for walkers and a base to stay.
"Links with local businesses encouraged so we can promote you as part of the offer, do get in touch. Spot the 'walkers welcome' window badges in participating venues - more welcome."
