12-year-old Cai Floyd has spin cycled the distance between his home in Cowbridge and the Nightingale Hospital in London, a total of 172 miles (276k), over three days raising funds for the Cardiff and Vale Health Charity.

Usually, Cai attends Cowbridge Comprehensive school but the lockdown means he is at home and wanted to find a way to support our local NHS services and the staff during COVID-19.

Property of Vale Council

The Vale of Glamorgan Council has awarded nearly 500 frontline staff, in Cowbridge and around the Vale, a 10 per cent salary uplift in recognition of their efforts during the coronavirus crisis.

Staff working in a range of areas including Social Care and Neighbourhood Services will be entitled to the increase after the Council committed almost £600,000 to the scheme.
