COWBRIDGE Rotary Club have published calendar featuring images from across Wales to raise money.

The 2021 calendar features the winning entries of 12 different themes, such as 'On the coast', 'In the garden' and 'Life in lockdown'.

Mike Long, of Cowbridge Rotary Club, organised the fundraiser after several core events for the Rotary Club were cancelled due to Coronavirus.

"This year we've had to cancel things such as the Open Gardens and street collections," said Mike.

"My wife came up with the idea, so we started it around August/September time as a competition.

"We asked people to send in their entries based on the 12 themes, and we had almost 200 entries from over 50 photographers," he said.

The 12 categories in the calendar and the winning entries are:

  1. On the Coast – James Penfold
  2. In the Garden – Laura Dukes
  3. Pets at Play – Tirion Wilson
  4. Creative Bakes – Matthew Jones
  5. Our Countryside – Lianne Young
  6. Family Life – Maryse Mortimer-Davies
  7. Keeping Active – Lianne Young
  8. Skylines – Laura Dukes
  9. Interesting Buildings – Victoria Jarvis
  10. Weather – Andy Jones
  11. Wildlife – Chris Hatcher
  12. Life in Lockdown – Loren Saunders

The winners of each category were decided by Mike Baker, a professional photographer who used to work for the BBC, Samantha Vincent, a graduate graphic designer, and a Cowbridge Rotarian.

"It was really interesting to listen to them decide the winners," said Mike.

"All the photographs were fabulous and we hope to do it again next year."

So far, the club has sold 200 calendars with roughly 50 still available at £6 each.

Mike was able to produce the calendars with Trustmark Design and Print.

They can be purchased from Watts and Morgan Estate Agents, the Bear Hotel, Crosslands Kennels, or directly from Cowbridge Rotary Club via [email protected].

Cowbridge Rotary Club has 44 members, who meet weekly and to further goodwill and peace throughout the world.

It contributes to international causes such as eradicating polio, but also supports local charities, schools and social events.
