Cowbridge Library is running events all through the fire-break lockdown, which includes October half-term and Halloween.

The library is running two read-alongs of spooky stories for Halloween. The Monsters We Deserve by Marcus Sedgwick is suitable for anyone aged 14 and over, and from tomorrow participants read 35 pages a day. Cowbridge Library will post questions and thoughts on their Instagram page to reply and comment on.

Starting on Monday and finishing on Halloween, the library will also be posting on Twitter about The Small Hand by Susan Hill. Suitable for adults, readers should complete four chapters a day and can find new questions and observations every day at noon.

On Monday 26th October there will be an online "spooktacular Halloween session" with the ZooLab team .

"The fun starts at 1pm and it's completely free and you don't need to be a member of the library to attend. You can book on Eventbrite to meet the spiders and reptiles," said the staff.

To help everyone get ready for Halloween, Cowbridge Library will be posting children's craft films on their Facebook and Twitter accounts on Saturday and Thursday.

The films will show you how to make a Spooky Halloween Garland (24th) and Paper Pumpkins (29th).

There will be an adult paper craft posted on 28th October demonstrating how to make a Book Witch.

Finally the library will post a special Halloween themed Wriggle and Rhyme session film on Friday 30th October. This will be a special preschool session with the Big Blue BookStart Bear.

All the library's films, including the films posted at the start of the month to celebrate #Libraries Week, are available to view anytime on our new YouTube Channel .

If you're stuck for new books to read, you can sign up for eBooks and eMagazines from the library service.

Anyone who isn't a member of the library but who would like to use eBooks and eMagazines, they can join via our online catalogue . They will receive a library card number and pin number which they can use to set up the other services.
