New eco-working space to open next week

From next week (26th April) a new provision for those wishing to embrace a new way of working will be open for viewing in the Vale of Glamorgan.

It has been four years since the idea to regenerate a farm building was first discussed between us, as owners of Longacre Farm (Pendoylan) and Creative Rural Communities.

Following extensive community engagement and applications for planning and funding, building commenced in February 2020.

As environmentalists, we were keen to maintain and improve the habitats and environment on the farm.

This is evident with log piles, hedges, wildflowers and shelter for wildlife surrounding the building.

Inside the building all the furniture has been repurposed and upcycled.

With the need to reduce the commuting traffic we felt that this project, an eco co-working space was a project that reflected our priorities.

Since then much has changed in everyone's working and personal life. Working from home offers a new way of life and looks likely to continue for many as offices close and the Welsh Government encouraging hybrid working patterns.

Y Cwt, Longacre Farm, Pendoylan is offering a rural alternative to working from the kitchen table on your own. We have developed a pretty rural coworking space where everyone can choose how and when they work. With free parking, tea and coffee, superfast broadband and no (or reduced) commuting, this is a chance to try a new way of working that suits your personal lifestyle.

As well as a range of desks for individuals to rent, there are meeting

rooms for larger numbers, a coffee shop for workers and the wider community, and a large playroom for children. This is intended to be a crèche for workers' children following registration.

Due to Covid restrictions there will be a limited number of places available to book at the moment, but enquiries and visits are welcomed from the 26th April.
