Police are investigating damage caused to two Cowbridge businesses on Saturday night.

The glass door window at Little Sweethearts Childrenswear, Penny Lane, was cracked, and a window at Medivet was shattered.

Stefano Susanna, partner at Cowbridge Medivet, spent four hours on Sunday afternoon dealing with the mess, which he said was caused by an intruder breaking into the premises.

"I think it happened Saturday night. We were open until 1pm and I don't think it happened during the day because there were people around here who would have seen something" he told Nub News.

"They smashed the glass, put their hand through and opened the window. I can tell they came in because the lights on the reception and office were on.

"They don't appear to have taken anything and I think they must have gone the way they came in because the back door was locked."

Stefano was informed of the incident at Medivet Cowbridge, located at the back of the Arthur John car park, on Sunday.

"I was away, and the emergency services rang me. I came here on Sunday afternoon to clear up the glass, because as a vet you can imagine the danger for animals as well as customers."

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said:

"South Wales Police are investigating reports of damage being caused at a business on Willow Walk, reported on Sunday 19 September. Anyone with information is asked to contact us quoting 2100330571.

"South Wales Police are also investigating reports of damage being caused at a business on North Road, Cowbridge, which was also reported on Sunday 19 September. Anyone with information is asked to contact us quoting 2100330649.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the incidents.

"Business are urged to review security systems and make it clear that there is no cash left on the premises overnight.

"If anyone is seen acting suspiciously, they are encouraged to call police immediately on 999."
