The first set of affordable housing in Cowbridge will be on the Market from October 2019.

Newydd in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council will be offering brand new homes in Cowbridge as part of their low cost home ownership scheme.

This is through the 'Aspire2Own' scheme which was created by the Vale of Glamorgan Council and its partners in recognition that first time buyers can often find it difficult to get onto the first step of the property ladder.

They state that it will be great opportunity for first time buyers to get a foot on the property ladder.

In October, eight 2 bedroom semi-detached properties, will be on the market for £140,500.

This price is set at 70% of the real market value of the home.

Spring 2020 will see more affordable housing in the development being sold.

Low cost home ownership means that more people have the opportunity to buy a property in a desirable location at an affordable price.

According to the Vale's Local Development Plan, the Vale of Glamorgan Local Housing Market Assessment (2015) identified a net annual need for 559 Affordable Housing Units in the Vale.

Eligible applicants for the affordable housing scheme:

• Be a first time buyer

• Have access to a deposit
