Can you escape from Cowbridge Library?

Cowbridge Library has produced a virtual escape room, which can be completed by single players or teams at home.

The escape room is free to play and suitable for children age 11 and up.

Julia Bazley created the escape room after being inspired by other libraries and curious about the concept.

"I've been intrigued by escape rooms. Before I built this one, I did a few to see what I could achieve, and I'd gone on a Libraries Connect course," said Julia.

"I thought 'why not?' and learnt how to use Google Forms. It's one of the benefits of lockdown and a positive home learning experience!

"I was aware other libraries we doing it and we're always keen to look at new ways to engage people," she said.

As well as being fun, Julia said escape rooms test our minds.

"There's a degree of literacy involved," said Julia.

"There's a story and characters. Lots of teachers are using it as a learning platform.

"I tried it on the staff here, and its really bizarre how differently everyone thinks.

"One person might find a puzzle really hard, while another finds it easy. Then the next one they do, it's the other way around.

"It's weird how everyone's mind works differently. It's definitely something you can work on together, especially with younger ones, she said.
