PEOPLE in Cowbridge and across the Vale of Glamorgan who are living with Parkinson's or have a connection to the condition are invited to join a new local group to meet, socialise and get together with other people affected by the condition.

The group will offer peer support, advice and friendship to those affected by Parkinson's in the local area.

Meetings will take place at Y Galon, The Broad Shoard, Cowbridge, CF71 7DA, on the second Wednesday of the month from 2.30 - 4pm.

Rebecca Lydon, Community Development Coordinator for South Wales at Parkinson's UK Cymru, said: "Being diagnosed with Parkinson's can be a shock and adapting to life with the condition can be hard for the person involved and their loved ones too. But we know that getting the right information and support at the right time can make all the difference.

"That's why our local groups and networks have an important part to play for those people in Cowbridge and across the Vale of Glamorgan.

"It is vital that we can support everyone affected by Parkinson's, so that together, we can move towards everyone with the condition feeling empowered to take back control of their life with Parkinson's."

Parkinson's is a complex brain condition that gets worse over time. It affects 153,000 people in the UK and around 8,300 in Wales. It has more than 40 symptoms, from tremor and pain to anxiety, and there is currently no cure.
