The local community has had a busy month with a series of community events taking place to raise money for the Mayor's chosen charities.

On Saturday 1st October, the Town Hall hosted its fifth Coffee and Drop-in morning to launch the Community Plan project by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and Cllr. Malcolm Wilson, raising £116 for Barnardo's Cowbridge and Atal y Fro.

Cowbridge Civic Sunday took place shortly after on 9th October raising a further £200 for the Mayor's chosen charities. The Parade was a huge success, led from by the South Wales Police Band from the Town Hall to the Old Hall Gardens where members of the community gathered to enjoy a variety of short contributions to celebrate the community of Cowbridge, Llanblethian, and Aberthin.

Performances included a medley of songs by year two and year three pupils from Ysgol Iolo Morganwg, two songs by the choir of With Music in Mind, a message from Town Twinning friends in Clisson, a charming story by year two pupils from Y Bont Faen primary school, some words on behalf of the Church in Cowbridge, a performance by Cowbridge U3A choir, and a violin Concerto performed by two pupils from Cowbridge Comprehensive School. The performances were then concluded by a speech from the Mayor.

In addition to fundraising efforts, the Mayor and Mayoress showed their support for the people of Ukraine as they attended a Ukrainian Arts Festival in the Sherman Theatre Cardiff where they learned more about the impact of the war on ordinary Ukrainian people through theatrical performances by Ukrainian artists.

The Mayor said: "It has been a fantastic few weeks for Cowbridge, Llanblethian, and Aberthin. We have raised vital funds for local charities, whilst coming together to celebrate our wonderful community and the talented people within it.

"I would like to thank every single person who made the events this month possible, and all those who came along and supported.

"We are already planning our next event which will be Remembrance Sunday on 13th November, and we are very much looking forward to seeing the community coming together once again."
