Cowbridge and District Poppy Appeal 2022 is now largely over, and the final figures show the donations to be in excess of £20,000.
Organisers wish to thank, very sincerely, everyone involved.
Members of the public have been "very generous" this year with their donations, with retailers and other business also being "very supportive".
Numerous organisations have also helped a great deal and the local schools have been "absolutely brilliant".
Poppy Appeal Organiser, David Howell, says:
"The local schools have been fantastic, Cowbridge Comprehensive School contributed over £1000 for the second year running, and the primary schools donated £1650 between them, some collecting over £300 each.
"A business which helped the appeal a great deal was the Red Lion pub in Bonvilston. Having seen the lamp post poppies in Cowbridge, landlord Peter Davies thought he could take it a bit further and created his own Red Wall of those large poppies on the outside wall of the pub.
"The poppies were sponsored by Peter's customers and raised over £1000 for the Poppy Appeal. Many thanks to all involved.
"Others deserving special mention, and a very big thank you, are those who took part in the collection.
"Regular British Legion collectors and supporters plus those from Cowbridge Rotary, the Cowbridge Male Voice Choir and Vale Probus formed a magnificent team and helped ensure an excellent collection.
"Final figures will be a while coming in, but this year's total is already destined to well exceed £20,000; magnificent for such a small area.
"The support for the Poppy Appeal is a credit to the people of Cowbridge and the surrounding villages and their support and generosity are very, very much appreciated."
