Cowbridge Comprehensive School will be recognised for their outstanding performance at an upcoming ceremony.

Cowbridge Comprehensive School and Ysgol Sant Curig will both receive accolades at next month's Estyn awards evening following superb inspection reports.

The pair will be congratulated as part of an event to recognise excellence in education and training in Wales.

Cowbridge received a sensational inspection report in June that saw them rated excellent in all five categories of assessment.

Cowbridge Headteacher Debra Thomas said: "We are delighted to be recognised by the inspectorate as being excellent in all areas with no recommendations for improvement.

''We are committed to providing the very best education for all our students and are very proud to receive this accolade."

Inspectors also invited both schools to submit a case study of their work in sustaining such high standards to be used as examples to others on Estyn's website.

Cllr Lis Burnett, Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said: "The awards are richly deserved and fitting recognition for their spectacular inspection outcomes.

"The Vale has a large number of high-quality schools. Cowbridge and Ysgol Sant Curig stand out as two of the best and set the standards for others across Wales."
