The Vale council has partnered with community groups to create a fun-filled summer schedule with free activities for young people.

Summer Of Fun will run from July 1 to September 30 and aims to support the wellbeing of children and young people to continue their recovery from the Covid restrictions.

The programme will also support families with the costs over the summer holidays, with more than 100 free activities, suitable for children and young people aged up to 25.

Activities include fossil hunting, archery, dance classes and radio workshops. The programme also offers inclusive activities for children with additional needs, such as water floats and toys sessions.

Cllr Gwyn John, the cabinet member for Leisure, Sport and Wellbeing, said: "I am delighted to see that so many local organisations are providing free activities for young people of all ages to enjoy in the Vale.

"I hope that the Summer Of Fun programme will help families in the Vale to find fun ways to spend the summer holidays."

A fun family event has been organised at Romilly Park to celebrate National Play Day on August 3, highlighting how important playtime is for children's physical and mental health.

The programme will be regularly updated with new activities.
