A well-loved Cowbridge Farmers' Market vendor is set to open a restaurant.

Rock & Scallop is setting up its own venue in Pontyclun, for dining and takeaways.

Sadly, it means we will not be seeing them at the weekly market in town as often.

"IT'S COMING…," the team wrote on social media.

"The Rock & Scallop Restaurant is coming, and what it needs is myself and my teams time and effort to make it happen and bring Wales it's Premier Seafood restaurant.-takeaway -fishmongers.

"What this means is we have to step back from the Fishmongers and pop up markets.

"What I don't ever want is standards to slip. We need a fixed location. We will always aim to give the best fresh fish and seafood produce to our customers.

"We appreciate the support we have had on this unreal six month journey from me dropping off lobster to people's houses to a national operation to get the best fish and present to you guys on the weekends. Now we need to concentrate on the restaurant and the next phase. Are you going to join us?!

"We are now embarking on that journey to make the restaurant happen and happen fast.

"You'll be dining with us soon in Pontyclun at The Rock & Scallop Restaurant please follow @therockandscallop we can't thank you enough for helping us hit the ground so well- and putting us on the map #watchthisspace."

Cowbridge Farmers' Market wished the fishmongers a fond farewell:

"So sorry to be losing you from Cowbridge Farmers Market, we loved having you with us, good luck with your restaurant.

"Hope to see you at the market soon doing your shopping!"
