Cowbridge Library is hosting a week of events and activities to boost wellbeing and keep children busy during the half-term break.
The schedule will start on Monday, February 21 and includes a range of activities for children under five years to 16 years old.
Funding from the Welsh Government's Winter of Wellbeing initiative launched last month has meant Cowbridge Library can offer these activities to help young people gain confidence after a difficult two years with the pandemic.
"We're all concerned that young people have really suffered during the pandemic," said Melanie Weeks, senior librarian at Cowbridge Library. "The series of events and activities will help people to feel better about themselves, get them out and about and reengage again."
Here is the current schedule of available activities:
Monday, February 21, Awesome Wales Craft session: session on making beeswax wraps to be held in the Old Hall building at 15:30.
Children can join the Awesome Wales team to create their very own beeswax food wrap. You'll get to pick your favourite 100% cotton fabric and learn the secrets of making the perfect wrap that is flexible and ideal for wrapping your sandwiches or leftovers.
Plus, it's completely plastic free! You will get to take home your own beeswax food wrap to use or give as a gift.
The workshop lasts 45 minutes and is suitable for children aged ten to 16 years old. Vegan soy wax is also available as an alternative. It is advised to make the Cowbridge Library team aware of any allergies before starting the workshop.
Tuesday, February 22, Drag Queen Storytime: Two sessions to be held in the library, the first at 11:00 – 12:00 for under-fours and another session at 12.30 – 1.30pm for children aged five and over.
Wednesday, February 23, Mr Marvel Magic Show: One session to be held in the library from 11:00 – 12:00 and is suited for children aged three to seven.
Children can get involved with the magic tricks, enjoy puppet shows and make friends with a real-life bunny rabbit.
Friday, February 25, Wriggle and Rhyme for the under-fives: One session to be held in the library from 11:00 - 11.30.
All the activities are free to join, but pre-booking is essential. You can contact the library on 01446 773941 or email [email protected]. Follow Cowbridge Library on Facebook for the latest updates.
