The mayor of Cowbridge (Ancient Borough) with Llanblethian Town Council hosted a champagne and canapés reception on May 7 to raise money for Cancer Research Wales.

Cllr Siân Vaughan with her consort Mr Rob Vaughan invited friends and family as well as the deputy mayor Cllr John Andrew and mayoress Mrs Anna Andrew, the mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan Cllr Jayne Norman and her consort Cllr Margaret Wilkinson, and other councillors to the weekend event.

The reception was held at a private residence and a total of £870 was raised for the charity.

In addition to the sparkling drinks, a barrel of beer was donated by a donor that wishes to remain anonymous. "Everyone who attended enjoyed the event and had a great time raising money for such a good cause," said Cllr Vaughan.

Raffle prizes for the event were donated by Waitrose, Tesco, W G Davies newsagents, Vale Mayor and Consort, Cancer Research Wales Staff, friends and family and money donations were received from friends that could not attend on the day.
