Forage Farm building wins Ashdown Construction a Building Excellence Award
Local building company Ashdown Construction has won a Building Excellence Award from the Vale of Glamorgan Council for its work on the Forage Farm building.
The Building Excellence Award Scheme, organised by the Vale of Glamorgan Council Building Control team, demonstrates the Council's recognition of high standards in building work across the county.
Ashdown Construction was awarded the top prize in the 'Best Small Commercial Building' category.
Vale of Glamorgan Council proposes to turn former livestock market into food retailer
The Vale of Glamorgan Council is proposing to turn the site of the former livestock market into a food shop.
A Council report seeking approval to market the land for a "medium-sized food retailer" is scheduled to be heard in a cabinet meeting next Monday [8 February]. The proposal, which includes a public car park, aims "to improve the retail offer of Cowbridge town centre". Cowbridge pays tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore Tributes have been made from Cowbridge to Captain Sir Tom Moore, who sadly passed away on Tuesday with Coronavirus, aged 100. In the last year of his life, Captain Tom heroically raised almost £33 million for NHS Charities Together by walking lengths of his garden, gaining international admiration. Cowbridge Mayor Siân Vaughan gave Nub News a message on his passing. Police advice following theft from Welsh St Donats farm Three JCB buckets have been stolen from a farm in Welsh St Donats, say South Wales Police. The police advise anyone in a rural location to mark any items of value with permanent ink or paint, lock them away and to photographs valuables including any specific markings or serial numbers. After securing a space to make his dream a reality and converting the cellars of Hensol Castle into a distillery, the company began making their own products and bottling for other companies. The business was ready to launch its gin school when lockdown hit, and Hensol Castle Distillery couldn't open it's new venture. That's when Andy's wife Kathryn suggested they make hand sanitiser in the meantime. Accio computer! Cowbridge Library's Harry Potter book night returns with virtual activities Calling all witches and wizards in Cowbridge! On Thursday 4 February, Cowbridge Library hosted an online version of its annual Harry Potter Book Night. Harry Potter-themed crafts activities were uploaded to the library's social media pages.
