The Vale of Glamorgan Council and Business Wales – Sell2Wales are holding an event next Thursday [11 February] to discuss the future of its procurement and supply chain needs.

The virtual event will take place from 10-11:15am and include speakers from Master Builders Federation, United Welsh, Welsh Government and The Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Attendees will find out what qualifications, skills, products and materials will be needed, the scope of planned works in the Vale, how to register and use Sell2Wales and what support Business Wales offers.

The Council also want to hear from small and medium size enterprises to ensure they are part of the developments and pipeline of works "working together to build vital skills for future changes in our industry".

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is looking to "deliver regional economic recovery that also accelerates our transition to "net-zero emissions" strengthening our resilience to the impacts of climate change.

"Our future spend "Greening" our housing is an exciting opportunity that we are keen to engage our local SME's with.

"Low-carbon retrofits and buildings are new and vital employment and reskilling opportunities across the country as we support the national plan to renovate and construct new housing to the highest standards of energy & water efficiency."

What is Sell2Wales?

Managed by the Welsh Government, the Sell2Wales.gov.wales website provides a free and secure environment for advertising contract and tender opportunities.

Each year, contract opportunities worth on average over £6.3 billion for public sector goods and services are advertised through this site.

Approximately, 80% are smaller opportunities, so there are contracts out there for businesses of all types and sizes.

It aims to help public sector buyers to advertise and manage tender opportunities, businesses promote their services and businesses find contract opportunities.

"We are holding our next event which is related to our aim to retrofit our housing with green technologies and use the PassiveHaus concept when building new homes," said Sell2Wales.

"Over 60 people are registered but we would like as many businesses as possible to join us to hear about these local opportunities."
