Fun Foundations day nursery in Cowbridge raised more than £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support at its first summer festival on July 9.

The event was opened by the mayor of Cowbridge, Cllr John Andrew who gave a welcome speech followed by an afternoon of family-friendly activities including face painting, lucky dip, tombola, arts and crafts, hook a duck and much more.

Festival goers were also treated to three live music sets from local musicians, The KC Band and a delicious BBQ from Hare and Hounds Bakery as well as sweet treats from Miss Havisham's Cakes and Burnt Island Occasions sweet stall.

All proceeds have been donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Amy Ferguson, the owner of the nursery, was proud to have raised the funds for the national charity in honour of some of her team members. She said: "Unfortunately, it seems we all know someone who has been affected by the horrible disease and the Fun Foundations family is no different.

"We have team members here who are currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer and this is our way of thanking Macmillan for the amazing work they do to support amazing people like ours."
