Cowbridge: Patriotic Alternative leaflets a ‘compliment’ and ‘free advertising,’ says Drag Queen Story Hour UK founder
The founder of Drag Queen Story Hour UK says Patriotic Alternative leaflets in the Vale campaigning to stop Story Hour library sessions for children are a 'compliment' and 'free advertising'.
Leaflets were distributed to households in Bridgend, Penarth and Barry on June 12 and Patriotic Alternative posted pictures of the distribution on its Twitter account.
Patriotic Alternative is a group which started in September 2019 and aims to raise awareness of the "demographic decline of native Britons in the United Kingdom" and the "environmental impact of mass immigration".
Sab Samuel, aka Aida H Dee, organises Story Hour sessions for children in libraries across the UK and has received positive feedback from library staff and parents in the Vale of Glamorgan.
He told Cowbridge Nub News: "With regards to leaflets being handed out by an organisation, I'd actually like to thank them – I've got free advertising! I'm aware it's negative, and these negative people are few and far between.
"But the fact that they've physically printed leaflets and put money into it, the fact that they feel the need to physically go out there and try to stop something that's not the most exciting thing on the planet – it's a bit of a compliment really!"
Sab will be hosting Story Hour sessions at Vale libraries on August 9 and August 10 as part of an upcoming UK tour.
He continued: "These people are obviously fuelled by hatred towards queer culture and LGBTQ+ people – there's hatred there.
"That fuelled hatred is the very reason why Drag Queen Story Hour UK exists in the first place."
Cowbridge Nub News has contacted Patriotic Alternative for comment.
