Alun Cairns MP is to host a public meeting following the closure of Y Bont Faen Primary School for Key Stage 2 pupils.

Pupils and parents have been told to return to home learning after a risk assessment identified that the roof has begun to affect the safety of classrooms and corridors.

This has resulted in pupils returning to online learning while alternative arrangements are made.

Mr Cairns is inviting parents to discuss the issue on Friday, May 20, at Cowbridge United Free Church on Westgate at 17:30.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for the MP, local councillors and school governors to offer support to concerned parents.

Mr Cairns said: "The last-minute nature of these decisions and the continuing uncertainty about how long pupils will be learning at home is causing immense strain on both the pupils and their parents.'

"The Vale Council have completely mismanaged this situation, to the point that children's learning has been disrupted. Repairs were, therefore, put off by the council and are now said to take up to six weeks to be completed."

"I want to bring parents and the governors together to understand the issue and challenge the Vale Council to act sooner, minimising the disruption to children's learning which has already been massively affected during two years of Covid."

Cowbridge Nub News has contacted Y Bont Faen Primary School for comment.
