Rotary Cowbridge members were pleased to be able to welcome Dr Sarah Miles, Managing Director and Kate Whitestone, Trustee of Music In Mind, who attended a recent club meeting.

Their attendance was in connection of the club presenting a donation of £1000 which will be used to facilitate the internal decorating of "Y Galon" Community Hub, in Cowbridge.

Dr Miles on receiving the donation stated "Y Galon is a new age-friendly community hub in the Old Red Cross building on the Broad Shoard in Cowbridge.

It is currently undergoing refurbishments and improvements in accessibility, but as soon as this has been completed we hope to open to the public to begin running services.

As this will be a community-led and joint venture, we don't yet know what will take place there, but we anticipate some small group activities, information and signposting, therapies and renting out the space to external organisations.

Our aims are to enable the community to come together to build friendships, improve wellbeing and reduce loneliness as well as having some fun!"

Cowbridge Rotary Club President Carol Hallewell "explained that as this project was part of the clubs support towards its commitment to the Dementia Community within Cowbridge was supported in its efforts by the funds held from the Homfrey Trust".

The club wish "Y Galon and Music in Mind every success with this new venture.
