Cowbridge Tennis Club's major fundraising event of the year raised over £17,000 towards improvements to the club's facilities.

A 24-hour on-court event was held from Friday, April 29 to Saturday, April 30 and many supporters from the local community and surrounding areas took part, playing tennis on the club's courts over 24 hours and ensuring at least one court was continuously in use.

The fundraiser aimed to raise money for improvements to the club, providing a more sustainable, welcoming and weather-proof environment for coaches, players, their families and the local community.

Richard Owen, chairman of Cowbridge Tennis Club, said: "The fundraising efforts this year have been fantastic! We set ourselves a goal as a club to raise money towards improving our facilities.

"Using Crowdfunder and undertaking the 24-hour tennis extravaganza has enabled us to exceed our target. It has also brought a real buzz to the club and encouraged more people to get on court!"

The club's floodlights enabled play to continue through Friday night and the early hours of Saturday morning.

A BBQ at the clubhouse followed the last game on Saturday afternoon, where players and supporters celebrated the success of the event and enjoyed the sunny weather.
