The village of Ystradowen will be celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee with a weekend schedule of events.

Ystradowen Community Council and Sports Association (YCSA) received a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund to organise the events, which are an Afternoon Tea on Thursday, June 2, an Adults Jubilee Party on Saturday, June 4, and a Family Fun Day and Street Party on Sunday, June 5.

Katie Bullon, a Ystradowen resident, told Cowbridge Nub News: "Ystradowen is a vibrant village with a very strong community spirit.

"The way the village has pulled together to create such a full diary of events to celebrate such a momentous occasion for Britain is admirable.

"Not only is it a time to celebrate the Jubilee, but it is a chance for everyone to come together safely, post-Covid and really enjoy themselves!"

For the Afternoon Tea, guests will be served by teenagers who live in the village and entertainment will be provided by Cowbridge Comprehensive School's jazz band.

On the Family Fun Day and Jubilee Street Party, everyone will bring a picnic, there will be a licensed bar as well as activities such as face painting and a Jubilee-themed treasure hunt.

Events will be held at the Ystradowen Village Hall.
