Flood Warnings at River Thaw For Cowbridge Residents
Natural Resources Wales have released a statement on flooding from the River Thaw affecting residents in Cowbridge.
They released a statement on Twitter. It states: ''People around the Cowbridge area in the Vale of Glamorgan may have noticed a bit of activity yesterday and today at our flood scheme on the River Thaw, just to the north of the A48 bypass.
''As part of our regular inspection of the flood storage reservoir, we have noticed a minor fault which we will be repairing over the next few days.
''The structural integrity of the reservoir remains sound, and following several recent high rainfall events and very high river levels, the scheme has functioned well and is protecting 98 residential and 55 non-residential properties downstream.
''To carry out the repairs we will be drawing down water from the reservoir in a controlled manner which will result in the levels of the River Thaw visibly going up and down over the next few days.
''A Flood Alert is currently in force for the River Thaw at Cowbridge, and our officers are monitoring the levels at the reservoir and downstream 24/7, and the amount of water released from the reservoir will be increased or decreased accordingly
''We would like to reassure the residents that we are doing everything possible to keep them safe from flooding.''
