A pre-application consultation submitted to the county planning register reveals further details about the proposed expansion of Cowbridge Comprehensive School.

The expansion proposal includes a new building set to open in September 2022, that will cater for 210 primary pupils and provide 48 part-time nursery places.

It will also create an 'all through' school for Cowbridge, supporting children from age three to 19.

The Vale Council received 92 objections to the proposal, and the town Council formally opposed the expansion.

Meeting the future demand for English medium primary education in Cowbridge because of existing and proposed housing developments is the "key driver" for the development, the Vale Council says.

This pre-application consultation includes a proposed site layout, ground and first floor designs and parking plans.

The two-storey school building is set to feature classrooms, a main hall for sport and dining, offices for senior staff and administration, a staffroom and breakout areas.

Within the grounds there are also plans for external play areas and a multi-use games area.

A site notice and letters have been posted to neighbouring properties, landowners and local councillors regarding the proposed development notifying them of this Pre-Application Consultation process with information on how to comment on the proposal and access the above material.

If you have any queries or are unable to access the documents electronically you may request copies of this information by emailing [email protected] or by telephoning the agent on 01446 704762.

Anyone who wishes to make representations about this proposed development must write to the agent at FOA: Nathan Slater, Planning Policy, Dock Offices, Subway Road, CF63 4RT or emailing [email protected].

All representations must be received by Monday 5 July 2021.
