Gentle and informal walk around Cosmeston Lakes will bring people together

Local News by Julie Skelton 4th Sep 2026
Sometimes, you don't need to find the right words, walking alongside someone can be enough

COMPASSIONATE Penarth is inviting local people to join a gentle and informal walk around Cosmeston Lakes Country Park on Thursday, 10 September, from 11am to 1pm.

Walking Through Loss offers an opportunity for people who have experienced bereavement or another kind of loss to come together, walk alongside others and, if they wish, talk, remember or simply enjoy some company. There is no expectation to talk about personal experiences, and people are welcome to participate in whatever way feels comfortable for them.

Compassionate Penarth is a local voluntary group whose aim is to help people feel more comfortable talking about death, dying, grief and bereavement, and creating opportunities for people to support one another within the community.

The group will meet at the public toilet facilities near the main car park before setting off on an easy stroll around the park. After the walk, if you would like to stay and chat, you may wish to pop into the café for refreshments.

This is a relaxed community event rather than a formal support group, and everyone is welcome.

Paricipants are advised to wear weather-appropriate clothing and suitable footwear, as paths may be muddy. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome.
