A real highlight in the Welsh food calendar, the Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival is back for 2023 with South Wales' leading distillery back on board as festival sponsor.

Promising to be a whole weekend of foodie, family-friendly fun the festival will take place over the Spring Bank Holiday Weekend (28-29 May), with Vale Resort-based Hensol Castle Distillery - South Wales' first full scale gin distillery, visitor experience, gin school and bottling plant - playing a key role.

A team will be on site over the weekend allowing festival goers to sample and buy some of the fabulous products available, including the ever-popular Welsh Dry Gin - recently awarded Best in Wales at the 2023 World Gin Awards – and excitingly, the brand new Hensol Castle Black Gin, made from Muscat grapes picked from the distillery's own walled garden and mixed with black cherries and blackberries.

Each of the flavoured gins are distilled from real fruit or natural flavours and perfectly blended with Hensol Castle Welsh Dry gin; copper pot distilled and handcrafted in the castle cellars for a true taste of Wales.

Speaking about the distillery's involvement with the festival, Hensol Castle Distillery marketing manager Stephanie Metson said: "We sponsored the Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival for the first time last year and it proved to be the perfect fit for us; we had such a good response and are delighted to be involved again this year.

"We celebrated our first birthday in September 2022 and as well as the great result for our London Dry, to have also been recognised with the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Award in the top 10% of worldwide tourist attractions has really taken things to another level.

"The Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival is an excellent platform for us to be able to showcase even more that we have to offer, including the recently added cocktail masterclasses and of course giving festival goers one of the very first chances to sample our new Hensol Castle Black Gin which I'm sure will be a big hit!"
