Cowbridge Mayor Cllr John Andrew has highlighted work being undertaken and that has resulted in a number of trenches being dug in the land west of Windmill Lane which was recently the subject of a pre-application consultation by the developer Redrow.

Cllr Andrfew says: "It is understood that this is an archaeological survey being undertaken by Border Archaeology on behalf of Redrow with the location of the trial trenches having been selected based on an earlier geophysical survey.

"The work is understood to have started on Monday, 22 August and is scheduled to last for two to three weeks, depending of course on what, if anything, is found.

"A planning application for the proposed housing development has not yet been submitted so far as is known.

"If and when one is submitted then presumably the report of this archaeological survey will be included."
