Libraries offer a warm and inviting welcome with a series of free events

Throughout March a series of events will be taking at Cowbridge and Llantwit Major Libraries as part of the 'Warm Spaces' initiative thanks to grant funding from Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Libraries are ideally placed to offer a warm space to the residents of the Vale, offering access to free Wi-Fi, computers, study areas, books, and other resources – and free tea and coffee to all

Board games, jigsaws, and crossword puzzles are also available for people to use in the library

The libraries will also be  are hosting a series of free craft workshops and author talks

These events aim to combat social isolation as well as giving people the opportunity to try their hand at something new

People must be 16+ to book onto these events

Senior Librarian Melanie Weeks says: "We are delighted to be able to put on these free workshops and events as part of our Warm Spaces offer in both Cowbridge and Llantwit Major Libraries.

"The craft workshops and author events offer people the chance to try something new in a friendly and sociable environment and to discover everything that Vale Libraries have to offer."

Wednesday 15th March – Spring Wreath Workshop - Cowbridge Library - 10am – 12noon

Wednesday 22nd March – Leather Journal Cover Workshop - Cowbridge Library - 10am – 12noon

Wednesday 29th March – Wire Flowers Workshop - Cowbridge Library - 10am – 12noon

Wednesday 15th March – Spring Wreath Workshop - Llantwit Library - 1 – 3pm

Wednesday 22nd March – Leather Journal Cover Workshop - Llantwit Library - 1 – 3pm

Wednesday 29th March – Wire Flowers Workshop - Llantwit Library - 1 – 3pm

Workshops are free and all materials supplied

Author events

Join local author and publisher Phil Rowlands to chat about his latest work 'TimeSlip' a darkly comical psychological thriller.

Llantwit Library Tuesday 14th March 5.30 – 6.30pm

Cowbridge Library Monday 20th March 2.30 – 3.30pm

Join local author Deborah Fisher as she discusses 'The Truth about Henry V,' drawing on her recent book on the subject, including Henry V's links with Wales.

Llantwit Library Tuesday 7th March 5.30 – 6.30pm

Cowbridge Library Friday 24th March 2 – 3pm

Join local historian Graham Phillimore from Llantwit Major Historical Society for a fascinating talk about the history of Llantwit Major.

Llantwit Library Tuesday 28th March 5.30 – 6.30pm
