Cowbridge Town Hall was decked out with Union Jack bunting and tablecloths for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee themed coffee and drop-in morning on Saturday, June 4.
A total of £337 was raised for the mayor's charities, Barnardo's and Atal-y-Fro. Attendees were given the opportunity to raise ideas and issues with a town councillor and generally meet as a community over coffee, tea, cake and a chat.
On this special occasion, people were also able to sample a Platinum Jubilee pudding made by the mayoress, Anna Andrew, following (mostly) the official competition winning recipe.
The Queen graced the event, courtesy of The Bay Tree, and Alun Cairns MP took the opportunity to have his photo taken with her.
The event could not have been run and the money raised without the help of many people. Jo Knapp and Jan Lewis of the Cowbridge Barnardo's Helper Group organised the raffle and sold the tickets.
Mary Bird of the Cowbridge Barnardo's Helper Group assisted with serving cakes, Valerie Monaghan served the coffee and helped in the kitchen along with Cllr. Beverly Tonkin and Steve Monaghan washed up.
The mayoress, Anna Andrew, made the pudding and drinks and generally organised the catering. Cakes were mostly donated by various generous people and businesses including Cllr Beverly Tonkin, Cllr Heather Weddell, David Pierce, Cowbridge Barnardo's Helper Group and Waitrose.
Raffle prizes were also kindly donated by the Cowbridge Barnardo's Helper Group, Atal-y-Fro, Sylvia Williams Chemist, Waitrose, Tesco, Caffè Nero and The Pencil Case.
The next mayor's coffee morning will be on Saturday, July 2, 2022, from 10:00 in the main hall of Cowbridge Town Hall.
Everyone is welcome to come along.
