A language teacher from Llantrithyd, who speaks four languages, has been awarded the La Jolie Ronde Licensee of the Year Award.
Sian-Elin Jones teaches extracurricular French classes to local children at 3 Welsh medium schools in the Vale - Ysgol Iolo Morgannwg in Cowbridge, Ysgol Sant Curig and Ysgol Gwaun y Nant both in Barry - through the award winning La Jolie Ronde programs.
Sian-Elin, known as Madame Sian El to her pupils, was awarded the title at La Jolie Ronde's Annual Conference in Bristol.
The program allows foreign languages to be taught through the target language, enabling her to teach French through the medium of Welsh.
Upon receiving the award, Sian-Elin commented: "I'm honoured and hugely surprised by the award.
''I love teaching languages and generally children love learning them… I will continue to pass on my passion for languages and different cultures to the younger generation."
It was also a double celebration for Sian-Elin as 2019 marks five successful years of running her business.
In 2013, she joined La Jolie Ronde's network of teachers, setting up her own business teaching French at lunchtime and after school.
She now teaches over 90 pupils across the Vale.
Sian-Elin was presented with her Award by La Jolie Ronde's Founder Colette Hallam.
Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, Cllr Lis Burnett said: "Bravo to Sian-Elin's achievement. The work she does for children in the Vale is incredible.
"Now, more than ever, it is important for children to have an understanding and appreciation of other cultures and ways of life. Learning a foreign language is one of the best ways to do so."
