THE newest arrival to Cowbridge High Street Rocket & Rye announced it will open on Tuesday 8 December.

Lockdown forced owners John and Ceri cook to delay opening their restaurant, having planned to open in November.

Following the announcement of the opening date, an online booking system for Rocket & Rye will be launched.

Having a restaurant on Cowbridge High Street has been a dream of Ceri and John's, so when space became available, they seized the opportunity.

"We've wanted to do something on Cowbridge High Street for as long as we can remember," said John.

"It's a lovely spot, and we've wanted to do it for years and never thought we would be able to.

The restaurant will seat up to 40 people with social distancing with a menu that emphasises locally-sourced ingredients bought directly from farmers in the area.

"It's a massive part of what we do, to try and work with as many farms directly rather than through a middle man," said John.

"There's so much good quality produce, we have to support them.

"They produce some of the best stuff around and I'm baffled that people don't use them more. I think people are now more than ever before."
